AMIDST FLOOD WE'D MISS OUR PM FOR NEXT 10 DAYS

Bangladeshmoves Desk, 17 September, 2010:

An alarming news has knocked the nation. Amidst hundreds of problems, flood has brought another curse to us. Yesterday the news channel has showed the picture of flood which has already inundated about twelve northern districts of Bangladesh . It is internationally known that Bangladesh does not suffer from bush fire, volcanic eruption, and avalanche; but she has to face flood for the geographical location of the country. Moreover, it is the biggest delta in the world and the creation of the country has been made possible for the accumulation of the fertile soil drugged through the river from the north which is rooted towards the Himalayas. During the inception of Pakistan, the then English had given the control of the mouth of 54 rivers to India and the rest of the parts have been flowing over the heart of Bangladesh. Making different barrages to those mouths, India sucks water during dry season and then Bangladesh becomes dry; on the other hand, when rainy season brings huge water through the channel of 54 rivers, Bangladesh is then inundated and makes numerous harms is offered to her. A lot of lives and property have to be spared and Bangladesh has to face economic hardship every year. Likewise last years, it might happen this month is a routine work. Question is: what was the preparation of the newly elected Government? Apart from this routine calamity, the nation had to suffer from two devastating cyclones in the southern region in the last years. One was Cidar (during CG) and other was Aila (during AL Government). A gulf of difference between two cyclones regarding management. While the Cidr hit, it was instantly managed by coordinated effort by our every forces and there was no news of major suffering till now; during Aila, we found pathetic ignorance and carelessness. Neither any coordinated effort nor any international effort was come to our sight. Aila affected people numbering about forty thousand peoples had to station on the embankment under open sky nearly two years. After one year courtesy help of the military was offered and visit of the PM after one year were just a joke! As an elected Government we think they are more committed, the fact of this seems different. During 4-party alliance GOB digester management was not so vulnerable that we have seen in Aila.

In the name of anthrax, cow dung was painted in the tail too, declaring red alert indiscriminately the religio-economical interest of the country had been challenged. Yesterday (16 September 2010), a concerned minister warned not to be ‘panic' with flood. What a ridicule advice it was! The person who is loosing his cattle, who is loosing to his/ her hut and is constantly facing scarcity of food, in addition bite of snakes, shall not he be panicked. It is quite a fun. While the whole nation was inundated during 1998, present Prime Minister said that the nation who laughed at the death of my father, I could not be worried about that nation. The then President Ershad quoted it in his speech - source added. If that was true, than what has been done by the present peoples who voted them and for that the killers of her father have been hanged. Politics is not the toy of the infant. If it is not a childish manner, then it is colonial aptitude indeed. After 1757, we have been facing artificial sufferings those ought to be avoided or mitigated. Man-made famine and ignorance had killed hundreds of people in the famine of Bengali year '76; again we had suffered during 1974 (AD).

Our Honorable Prime Minister is going to overseas on 17 th September 2010. The same kind of trip of Pakistan 's Jardari during recent flood had brought him insult; so far I have known a shoe was showed to him in the UK .

If speedy action is taken with the assistance of all the forces of Bangladesh , it might be expected that, inshallah, we will be able to overcome the challenge of flood. Joke with the people will eventually lead the situation bad to worse.
