This is the scenery of few yards of Kazi Para under the constituent of Mr. Kamal Ahmed Majumder where for stationing water for hours create huge traffic jam during raining season. Making the ground up as like as the road from city college to Rupsha Ghat in Khulna in 1987 which I saw during my student life, has not been arranged for years for this road. The above picture has been taken in 2007 and no measure has been taken since then, consequnetly stationing of water for years, hundreds of peoples of both side are to suffer. Though the similar picture of that spot has been inserted in my site under the title of ' Flood : our international crisis ' no administrative action has been taken since 2007. Is this the reality of democracy which Ershad regime could do in Khulna but present GOB can not do for last three years?
BANGLADESH: was, is, shall ?
While many people in the world are stateless, it is we who feel proud that we have homeland. As we have got the homeland it is our extra push that we must have a homeland which shall be livable. I often refer to the fact in many of my reviews that the ancient Bengali was blessed with affluences and discharged of burden of troubles artificially made as we have to suffer in spite of having many sources of aid, donation, and economic dynamism. In fact, at present, we have become destitute and have been enlisted to the categories of least Developed Country (LDC), developing country or the latest emblem – country of middle income, etc. Once the issue of development is appeared in various forums, present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed reminds us that the killing of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1974 had barred the speed of the development of the country. Amidst her reminder, the new generation, has no way but to listen to the advice blindly. However, when look at the history of the country; we see the turning towards Islam and giving up the clauses of socialism and secularism and it is the fact that when we turned face to the Middle East, we have got many opportunities: many people had got the opportunity to go over there and earned a great deal of money and with that money, present Government having amended the constitution alike 1972, has the dare to rule the country. So bringing the issue of smuggling money to Malaysia by the son of Former Prime Minster Khaleda Zia and blaming to former generals get no sense; when present time has been playing vital role. Furthermore, killing many military officers including civilians in the event of Pilkhana massacre, some killers of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975 have been hanged to death afterwards; few top leaders of Bangladesh Jamat-e-Islami were brought under justice and have been put behind the bars. In a word, after 1975, this is the rule of Awami League that is enjoying full fledges freedom to rule over the country. However, though the Prime Minister is defending herself, as a part of the countrymen, I can not be satisfied for the following reasons:
1. I am a post graduate student and I have neither any job no any assistance for my website without being special treatment which I deserve as a citizen.
2. Since I have no social security and any source to provide Mohrana, I am still remained unmarried for financial hardship.
3. Once I step down towards praying salat to Baitun Noor Jame Masjeed, I see some leaders of the mosque who have been chosen by the Mmember of the Parliemnet (MP) of the area, who does not provide any balance sheet of the money they take in the name of night guard and garbage cleaning. The country where we pay Municipality tax and other tax to rear up law enforcers and conservancy service we pay an extra charges which is in terms of the acts of thieves where state mechanism is closely associated with.
4. Few months back, to step down the former Khatib Ilias Daipuri, Mr. Khabir Uddin, a local resident and the uncle of Sheikh Hasina, played vital role where Ministry for Homes directly intervened to serve the purpose. One Jumma prayer the former Khatib Ilias Diapuri remarked on corruption in the mosque, for such comment he had been toppled down. If the Ministry for Home Affairs can help to end the purpose, what was the bar to the Local Government Ministry to ensure whether the funds to repair roads have been spent? Even when we cross in front of the house of Mr. Khabir Uddin by Road no. 2, Blcok-B, Section-12, Pallabi it seems that we are crossing a mountain terrain. Months back, a pump-house was installed in the land where a road was proposed to be built and a plaque was hoisted which inscribed the name of Alhajj Illias Uddin Molla, MP but left unused and the land has been occupied seemingly a graveyard. Is it our destiny that we shall be bound to become the scapegoat of the mechanism by paying hidden tax to the present Government where we get nothing!
5. When I go to market to buy rice, edible oil, beef, mutton, milk, sugar, spices, vegetables, the price list seems higher than previous years. Few reasons are responsible to jump the price,
- Communication network is not being maintained as per usual motion and the development of those are often disrupted. Thus the supply of agri-products of the farmers to the consumers are often dismantled and state-mechanism is left indifferent;
- The state ensures whether any hoarders are hoarding beyond the time prescribed and the Banks of Bangladesh shall encourage to the entrepreneurs to meet up the projects so related to the essential products. If requires to import the same body monitors the price of the international markets. In some case, government gives subsidy to stable the price. For instance, milk is very essential goods to the health of the infant and all ages. The Governmnet has failed to strengthen the cattle producing and even at present the biggest cooperative milk farm of the country –Milk Vita is going slow-motion. When China made mobile's price is going down, it is the price of the milk that is going up. The slow motion of cattle production has disrupted the aspiration during Eid-ul –Adha when many people had to give up slaughtering animals or had to slaughter paying a high cost. This year we have to pay 700 taka/ kg of beef which is quite unnatural. The GOB has totally failed to manage the sector of cattle, hide and related sector. By managing to this sector, lots of employment and earnings are possible to be earned. For the sake of local profiteer and international syndicate, GOB has totally failed to improve this sector. Now meet, milk, ghee, butter- seems the moon of the night !
- Assessing to the trading indexes, it seems that present GOB ignores the local producers and emphasize on import and corruptive elements have joined in the system where revenues earned from the goods during import are mismanaging! Such economic policies have lowered the standard of the majority people though a few looters could have been benefited.
6. When I step my foot on the road, it is so shameful and bizarre and troublesome that we can not walk around; slippery, uneven, no foot pat, the real estate developers dump building materials violating laws and no authority is seen to guard them and when we expect the roads shall be like the developed cities we see are halted and when we try to take action by writing and snapping pictures, none is ready to respond and when ask them the answer is like this: “ If we do not like, go away to other countries.” Then I should throw answer, “You bustard, you know I left Australia , what about the role of your bloody fathers, from airport to Australia , from Australia to Dhaka –every body was seen as the rival of us! What was our problem? Their psychology was: we would live not you.” The relatives of powerful elites like politicians, Beaurorct, Businessman, Defense personality, artists who may serve their vested economic interest may have the chance to be lived; paying labour by lower price has no value to them. For ensuring settlement in the developed country, is there any successful diplomacy taken by the GOB no, instead, for various reason, many workers living in the middle east have been returned and for their service, no fruitful arrangement have been taken yet. The migrant of Libya had to face many problems and after many reporting the concerned Foreign Ministry has at last managed somehow. Still the sector has not been set free from the claws of touts.
7. In order to transport from Pallabi to Motijheel, once we had Volvo bus, being dumped those valuable buses in the deport, we have been given newly imported buses where lots of bus manufacturers could do, has not been done and the rest of the bus which are served are low quality, no fitness, no dash board, no trained driver, increase of bus fare after every interval without calculating the real cost. When we are in the public buses, we are helpless and the present GOB is only collecting endowment from the unions from the concerned unions and the interest of the public is not looked after at all. After Miprur-11, bus station up to Mipur-12 bus stand, there is a free zone, where there is no control, after Mirpur-11, you may find the helpers take the seat commits fatal accident every now and then since they pay regular endowment no news is appeared in the newspaper at all. The problem in this sector is similar to various parts of the city as well as the country and a little attention has been paid to be improved in comparison to previous years. By two and half years, which could done by real implementation of law without filling up pocket, has been taken frustratingly low level which in terms has not delivered any fruitful outcome.
